Rachel Marsh in an indentured servant caring for the children of John and Abigail Adams during the days leading up to the Boston Massacre on March 5th, 1770. She becomes friendly with one of the British soldiers arrested for shooting the colonists that day. Rachel then gets caught among her feelings for the soldier, the colonist's stuggle for liberty and her job carrying for the Adams' children. Finally she discovers through books, both liberty on a personal and national level. This is a great book if you like historical fiction. Ann Rinaldi is very good at weaving history and fiction in these types of novels.
