Not all teens on the street are runaways. Some are throw-aways. "...teenage readers will appreciate a novel that speaks to them as adults and not mindless readers."

Terry, a brave 12-year old outdoorsman, was by the ruins of Huntsman Cottage in the middle of Crow Wood. As it was getting dark, a goshawk soared past him. He was mesmerized by the bird and started to follow it. He ended up in the old cottage. Terry spied a small black bag and picked it up. A small gold ring started spinning behind him. A voice came out of nowhere and told him that in the bag there was one stone, there were six more to be found, and he must find them to return home. He was sucked through the center of the ring, and found himself in a new world, with new people, new places, and new things. The rest of the book is about his quest to find the other six stones. (There are two other books in this series coming out; he does not find all of the stones in this book.)

This book had everything a fiction book should have: realistic characters, vivid description, and exceptional cliffhangers. The characters were so realistic that I could think of a person in the real world just like them! Each one had real-life traits, making them authentic. I could see every scene in the book in my head, down to the fine details of the setting, the clothes being worn, and the mood that was being set. Cliffhangers placed carefully at the ends of each chapter beg you to read more, and since this is the first of a trilogy, the cliffhanger at the end of the book makes me want to know what will happen in the next book. I found myself wanting to keep reading chapter after chapter until the very end. This is the ideal book for an intriguing read.

From the Publisher
Terry should never have been in the middle of Crow Wood that night - then the Torus couldn't have taken him. But he was, and it did. Now he finds himself in a strange new world, with no hope of getting home again unless he can find the seven tumblestones. New friends Gwen, Meeshka and Polka will help him solve the riddles, left by the mysterious Stranger - but the Baron's secret police are closing in fast. The key to the mystery lies in the mountains of the far north, where the 'Watcher' is waiting. The friends set out on their desperate quest, but it soon becomes clear that there is a deeper mystery behind the hiding of the stones, and an even deadlier enemy is just waiting for its chance...
